Derrick Doss Bio
Derrick began his radio career in 1978 at KVOV Radio 1280 AM the “Kool Voice of Vegas”, Las Vegas, NV. KVOV 1280AM, played R&B music and owner-operator Evelyn Newman encouraged personal contact and interviews with various African American stars and celebrities so that DJ’s could get behind the music and into the soul of artists. Appearing on the Las Vegas strip were the likes of Redd Foxx, Sammy Davis Jr., Joe Louis, Gladys Knight and the Pips and many more.
Derrick Doss graduated from Southern Illinois University with a BA in Communications, radio and television. Derrick transitioned from radio to Television after being offered an account executive position with NBC Las Vegas affiliate KVBC TV-3 and worked as an account executive selling, creating, writing, and designing successful television advertising campaigns. In 1989 Derrick moved to a larger market and joined KTSP TV-10, CBS affiliate in Phoenix, AZ.
Derrick left the media in 1993 to pursue other advertising interests, missing the business Derrick returned to media in 2003 to pursue his passion, Radio. In 2007 Derrick created The Voice of Gospel music show on KXXT 1010 AM radio.
